Refillable or Non-Refillable?
The CT 101 refillable series has a refillable water filter cartridge that usually needs to be replaced about once per year. Choose this one if you have a problem with iron or sulphur in your water, as these substances expend the media more quickly than other contaminants.

| The CT 50 non-refillable series offers a water filter that typically lasts three years. When the filter is exhausted, you replace the whole unit. So, you should also the 101 refillable if you don’t like to change filters. It is also generally more cost-effective in the long term since you don’t have to pay to replace the filter.

| Both the countertop models treat all incoming cold water that goes to the kitchen sink. This model can also filter hot water, provided it is flushed with cold water afterward to release the heat that would otherwise be trapped within the filter housing. |

Swivel Spout or Double Diverter?
The countertop models are both available with a swivel spout or double diverter. Filtered water comes through the spout on the swivel spout. The double diverter has a twin hose set-up so that water enters the filter from the kitchen faucet, goes through the filter, and then returns to the kitchen faucet where it is released. Choose the Double diverter model if you want to be able to put the filter body back away from the sink. Choose the Swivel spout if you want to be able to place taller glasses and pots under it to catch the water.

 The Countertop 101 Model has another option - Standard Filter or Crypto-Giardia Filter?
- The StandardFilter is the water filter of choice for most people in most situations. Its filter efficiency is at about 85-90%. This filter is very adequate for most household water situations, and generally preferred because it is not likely to clog.
- The Crypto-GiardiaFilter has an efficiency rating of 99.99%. If giardia, cryptosporidium, and cysts are of concern, this is the filter of choice. However, this filter is more likely to clog, and may have a shorter overall useful life span. If you do use this filter, you may want to also install a whole house sediment pre-filter to prolong the life of the Crypto-Giardia filter.
